Piston Terms of Service
These Terms of Service apply to the Piston Android application and its related services. Piston is provided by Stinez Pty Ltd, a company registered in Australia (“we”, “us”).
By installing or using the application you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the application.

Using the application
Piston reads diagnostic information from your vehicle through an ELM327 based OBD2 adapter, connected over Bluetooth or WiFi. The adapter is not part of the application and is not provided by us. Some features depend on what your vehicle and your adapter support.
Safety
Don’t use the application in a way that distracts you while driving. Connect the adapter, read faults and change settings only when it is safe to do so, and follow the road rules where you drive.
Diagnostic information
The information shown by the application, including fault code descriptions and sensor readings, is provided for general guidance only. It is not a substitute for an inspection by a qualified mechanic. Clearing fault codes turns off the Check Engine Light but does not fix the underlying problem, and it resets the readiness monitors, which may affect an emissions or roadworthiness inspection.
Premium version
The premium version is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google Play’s terms and refund policies apply to the purchase. The purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the premium features on the devices linked to your Google Play account.
Your account
To keep your fault history in remote servers you sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for the activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time, see Delete Your Account.

Acceptable use
You must not:
- try to access other users’ data,
- interfere with or disrupt the application or the services it uses,
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the application, except where the law allows it,
- use the application for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.
Intellectual property
The application, its design and its content belong to Stinez Pty Ltd or its licensors. These Terms don’t give you any rights to them other than the right to use the application.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the application is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any damage to your vehicle, your adapter or your device, arising from your use of the application. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Changes
We may update the application and these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms we will update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the application after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
